NWC obs deck cabinet approved

Hi folks –

Good news! Dr. Snow has graciously granted our request to put our cabinet in the NWC observation deck, subject to a number of conditions. All OUARC members are instructed to read very carefully the list of conditions below – particularly the parts about keeping the observatory neat and clean, and not interfering with students who are there to study! The use of the NWC observation deck space is a ***privilege*** and it will be up to all of us to maintain that privilege.

I’ve gotten back in touch with a rep at Hard Edge about printing us some nice decals to place on the sides of the cabinet. Once that’s completed, we’ll be ready to assemble and install the cabinet – hopefully next weekend (Sept. 20th-ish)

Subject: RE: Amateur radio in the NWC

Robin: As per our conversation of yesterday, I agree to have the radio
cabinent positioned as you indicate in the NWC observatory, subject to the
following qualifications:

— it is properly and tastefully marked as belonging to the ARC.

— the cabinent may be temporally moved if required by a particular
event. The NWC office staff will attempt to contact the ARC officers
to have them move the cabinet but will move it (w/o assuming any
liability) if such efforts at contact fail. Pls provide an up-to-date list
of officers and their contact information to the NWC office.

— such positioning does not establish any special claim on the part
of the ARC for the use of the observatory.

— ARC members keep the observatory neat and clean.

— the College does not assume any liability for the cabinent or its
contents.

— the cabinent will be promptly moved to another location if the
College requests.

A further note: The ARC is free to use the observatory without scheduling it,
but in this case the observatory is shared space. The ARC use should not
excessively interfere with others trying to study, take in the view, conduct
experiments, etc… If ARC wants exclusive use of the observatory on an
occassional basis, then the organization will need to get with Amy Tougas
and go through the formal scheduling process.

Questions???
